Quite common in the Atlantic, the Channel and the North Sea, lavers are red algae found in different locations according species: P. linearis and ombilicalis are present from Norway to Morocco, while P. leucosticta is more Meridional. Their very thin blades ondulate in the water and flatten themselves on the substratum at low tide.
